The sad story of a Sunflower. I hope you enjoy

I started from a seed, I got planted, and I sprouted. Surrounded by many other flowers like me, small and green. We were potted on a small table in a room filled with colors. People walked by all day and night, sometimes taking the flowers, but at night they’d get replaced. All of my brothers and sisters were strong healthy flowers, but I wasn’t. My petals were falling and my stem all bent. One day when the doors opened a young girl stopped at my table, her eyes got real big, and she smiled. “Mom, I want this one.” The girl said. Her hair was long and full, the sun made her hair shine a bright gold. “Are you sure Ava? The other ones look much healthier.” Her Mom had said. Ava. What a beautiful name.

They planted me at the side of their home, by a window. Then they left. I did not know if they would be back, or if I would be alone forever. I looked in the window to see a face smiling at me, Ava! There she was, she hadn’t left me after all.

As the days went on Ava got taller and bigger, but so did I. I grew faster than her so, soon I was towering over her. I watched her leave in a big yellow box every day, that I learned was called a bus. She would bring friends over, then they’d leave. But she’d never forget about me.

Then she brought a man home and introduced him to mom. I learned his name was John. They seemed to really be in love. They would be together all the time. They’d kiss, hold hands, and laugh together.

When she was an adult she got married and moved out with John. I didn’t see her very often after that. Then she brought home a baby. They’d visit every weekend and I got to watch Ava’s daughter grow old as well.

But one sad day Ava’s mom died. They packed up the house and put it up for sale. I never saw Ava again after that.

The new buyers of the house had a little boy, I really hoped he liked me. But he didn’t, and neither did his parents. So they got rid of me, clipped my stem, and removed my roots from the ground.

I enjoyed watching Ava grow old, I guess it was about my time anyway. I’m not sad the family got rid of me. If having me gone will make them happy, then so be it.

The End
